Delhi police arrest mastermind for over 5000 vehicle thefts

An individual suspected of stealing more than 5000 vehicles and serving as a dealer of illicit weapons has been detained by Delhi police.

Identified accused, Anil Chauhan was a class-1 contractor for the Assam government, according to the police. DCP Central District Shweta Chauhan, claims that Delhi police were prompted to stop these operations by the recent uptick in the supply of illicit weaponry in areas of Central Delhi.

The task of stopping these actions was handed to a group of Special staff members. In accordance with the instructions, the special staff team made contact with informants and got information from them.

Accused Anil Chauhan was apprehended in Delhi after Special Staff, who fall under the purview of Deshbandhu road police station, learned of his presence in the city. He was found to be in possession of one illegal country-made weapon, two live rounds, and one stolen motorbike.

Five additional locally produced handguns and a stolen automobile were found on him during the inquiry.

Anil Chauhan, who was charged, had allegedly been involved in 180 prior criminal prosecutions and had previously received a 5-year sentence in a case that was filed with the Nizammudin police station.

Anil Chauhan, who is suspected of stealing 5000 vehicles starting in 1997, is said to have been detained several times and imprisoned for his crimes. The defendant worked for the Assam government as a Class-I contractor.
