This year, with the entire procedure complicated and delayed by the coronavirus pandemic, no merit list will be published for the higher secondary examinations. Nevertheless, today’s results saw an amazing 30220 students who have achieved over 90%.  The highest score secured by a candidate is 499 out of 500.

These unprecedented results saw 6.8 lakh students who passed out of the 7.61 lakh students who appeared in WB class 12th exam.

Interestingly, the Science stream has secured the best pass percentage with 98.83 per cent while the Commerce stream has an average of 92.22 per cent. The pass percentage in the Arts stream touched  88.74 per cent. The highest pass percentage of all districts in West Bengal was recorded by Kolkata, with a 90.13% pass percentage.

Marksheets and certificates will be released at a later date.

Following precedent from CBSE, a notification released on January 26, said that a student’s best marks out of all the exams that they have written will be taken as the marks for the exams that they could not attempt. The passing criteria for the examinations will require a 30% grade average, with supplementary examinations conducted for those students who fail to meet the minimum requirement.

Following the release of their marks, the online degree admission process will begin in the state. Calcutta University will begin online UG admissions from August 10th. There will be no counselling or verification of results this year.
