Tokyo, Oct 6, Tokyo shares surged at the opening on Tuesday as investors’ sentiment here was high by overnight gains in overseas markets and a broad deal reached by the 12 members of the US-led Trans-Pacific Partnership free trade talk.
At 9.15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 350.68 points, or 1.95 percent, from Monday to 18,356.17, Xinhua news agency reported.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 25.11 points, or 1.72 percent, to 1,489.03.
