Beijing: Early on Sunday, a massive landslide hit an industrial park in Shenzhen city of south China’s Guangdong province, an incident where rescuers claim that at least 41 people are missing.
Dozens of buildings collapsed under the moving soil, and from the rubble in the Liuxi Industrial Park in Guangming New District in northwest of the city, rescuers were able to evacuate eight people, Xinhua reported.
According to the report police received, the landslide occured around 11:40 a.m. from whereon seven fire engines were sent to the site with 30 firemen who were being assisted by local residents in searching for victims trapped in the slide, an official said.
At least 700 people are searching for victims in the debris of the collapsed buildings. So far, rescuers have brought eight people to safety; one of whom had suffered minor injuries.
