In a minority Ahmadiyya Muslim group’s mosque, Bangladesh, a bomb exploded on Friday. Sources said that three people had been injured in the blast and one person, the suspected suicide bomber, was dead.
This incident happened during the Friday prayers at the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat mosque. At the time the bomb went off the mosque was crowded with worshippers.
A spokesperson from Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat said that there were two unknown people among the many gathered in the mosque, where women had also joined in the prayer.
It was during the prayers that the bomb was detonated by the suspected suicide bomber.
As of now, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack. But with militant groups such as the Jamayetul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) and the notorious Islamic State (IS) recently targeting Shiite mosques in Bangladesh, it is highly likely that one among them is the perpetrator behind the attack.
