Cairo: EgyptAir flight number MS804, headed to Cairo from Paris, disappeared from the radar just minutes before it was to enter the Egypt airspace on Thursday, the airline said in a tweet.

The flight MS804, carrying 59 passengers and 10 crew members, left the from the Charles de Gaulle in Paris at 11:09pm local time on Wednesday and was around 3 hours and 40 minutes into its journey when it lost contact.

In a tweet, the airline said: “An informed source at EGYPTAIR stated that Flight no MS804, which departed Paris at 23:09 (CEST), heading to Cairo has disappeared from radar.”

Flightradar24’s tracking service shows the plane disappearing from radar over the Mediterranean Sea close to its destination.

The Airbus A320 jet was flying at 37,000 feet when it disappeared before entering Egyptian airspace, the airline said.

Earlier in March, an EgyptAir flight from Alexandria to Cairo was hijacked forced to divert to Cyprus, where the hijacker, ‘unstable’, demanded to see his ex-wife.

He had later surrendered.
