Beijing: A 6.7-magnitude earthquake hit Kyrgyzstan on Sunday, said the China Earthquake Networks Centre.

The epicentre was determined at 39.43 degrees north latitude and 73.40 degrees east longitude, with a depth of 10 km, Xinhua news agency reported.

It was in a remote region near the border with China and Tajikistan

There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties after the earthquake.

Earthquakes happen frequently in the mountainous regions of the Central Asian country.
