Wuerzburg: A 17-year old Afghan refugee was shot dead by the police after he, armed with an axe and a knife, injured four in a train near Wurzburg-Heidingsfeld station in Germany. Condition of three of the four injured is said to be critical while one of the victims received minor injury in the blood rampage by the ‘axe man’.

It was earlier reported that about 20 people were injured in the incident but later it was revealed that 16 of them were hospitalised as they were under the state of shock owing to the dastardly act by the teenager.

After the attack the train line between Wurzburg-Heidingsfeld and Ochsenfurt has been closed. Investigation officials have revealed that the attacker was an Islamic State (IS) fighter.

Some of the witnesses revealed that the axe man shouted Allahhu Akbar during the attack. However, the identity of the attacker and the motive of the attack remains unrevealed. After the attack, the teenager ran away from the crime scene but was chased down by the cops and shot dead.
