American luxury department store chain corporation Nordstrom has decided to drop Ivanka Trump’s name-branded line of clothing and shoes following a behemoth boycott campaign.
Ivanka, who is the daughter of United States President Donald Trump, has been targeted by activists who demanded from Nordstrom to stop doing business with Trump or his family.
The weeks-long boycott campaign was organised by a group called “Grab Your Wallet.”
However, Nordstrom has cited poor sales as the reason for the brand being dropped. Its official statement did not include the influence of the campaign.
“In this case, based on the brand’s performance we’ve decided not to buy it for this season,” the corporation said.
Shannon Coulter, one of the prominent campaigners, started the boycott movement after Ivanka Trump decided to endorse her father for the role of president despite seeing Trump’s notorious video about forcing oneself on a woman.
“Over 230,000 Tweets and who knows how many millions of dollars’ worth of missed purchases later, they finally heard us,” she said.
