United States President Donald Trump has decided to skip the White House Correspondents’ Dinner owing to his relentless censure of the media.
Trump took to his Twitter account on Saturday afternoon and announced that he would not be attending the event scheduled for April 29. “Please wish everyone well and have a great evening!” he wrote.

However, the president of the White House Correspondents’ Association stated that the annual event will take place regardless of Trump’s absence.
“[The dinner] has been and will continue to be a celebration of the First Amendment and the important role played by an independent news media in a healthy republic. We look forward to shining a spotlight at the dinner on some of the best political journalism of the past year and recognizing the promising students who represent the next generation of our profession,” WHCA president Jeff Mason said.
Other prominent media houses are also considering the skipping the event which will not host the President of the United States like it always does.
