Almost 30 people were injured in US state of New Orleans when a pickup truck drove head-on into the Mardi Gras parade on Saturday. However, the incident was not deemed as ‘terrorist-inspired’ in nature.

According to eyewitnesses gathered at the scene, the driver of the truck was in an inebriated condition when he rammed his truck into the crowd. Right after the incident took place, police immediately arrested the driver who, with his dishevelled hair and glassy-eyes, looked like he was driving under influence.

According to the New Orleans police, the truck was travelling along the side of the street opened to traffic during the parade when it hit three vehicles on the road and swerved into the pavement where people were watching the parade.

However, the FBI in New Orleans said that its agents were “coordinating with our federal, state and local law enforcement partners to determine whether a federal violation has occurred.”
