Anthony Albanese, the head of Australia’s Labor Party, was sworn in as the country’s new prime minister before flying to Tokyo for an international meeting.

Albanese took to Twitter to say, “I am incredibly proud to be Australia’s Prime Minister. As Prime Minister, I want to unite people and lead a government that is as brave, hardworking, and compassionate as the Australian people. That work will begin now.”

Albanese won the election on Saturday night, ending his nine-year wait for power. As a result, Anthony Albanese became the country’s 31st Prime Minister.

Anthony Albanese thanked people for voting for him when he won the election. He tweeted, “Thank you Australia. The Australian people voted for change tonight.”

Since their first virtual meeting in March 2021, in-person Summit in Washington, D.C. in September 2021, and virtual meeting in March 2022, the Quad Leaders have met four times.

The leaders will assess the status of Quad initiatives and Working Groups, suggest new areas for collaboration, and provide strategic direction and vision for future collaboration.
