Elon Musk stated on Tuesday that if his deal to buy Tesla is completed, he will reinstate former US President Donald Trump’s suspended Twitter account.
Musk labeled the ban a “morally poor move,” claiming it undermines Twitter’s trust.
Musk stated “I believe Donald Trump’s ban was incorrect. That, I believe, was a mistake… It alienated a big portion of the public but did not prevent Donald Trump from speaking up.”
However, Trump has claimed that he has no intention of returning to Twitter, even if his account is reinstated, and that he intends to continue with his new social media platform, Truth Social.
Musk disputed last week that Trump persuaded him to purchase Twitter, writing that he has had “no communication, directly or indirectly” with the previous president.
Following the January 6 Capitol Riot, Trump was permanently barred from Twitter for violating the platform’s rules against inciting violence, a move made by Jack Dorsey, according to the business. Musk’s statements were met with silence on Twitter.
Trump, for one, has stated that even if his account is reinstated, he will not return to Twitter in order to promote his own social media company, Truth Social.
Musk decided to buy Twitter for USD 44 billion last month.
