Dr. Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Iran’s foreign minister, stated on Thursday that Iran and India are committed to increasing trade volume to historic levels

Dr. Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Iran’s foreign minister, stated on Thursday that Iran and India are committed to increasing trade volume to historic levels.

Abdollahian stated, “We see a very bright and hopeful future ahead of us between New Delhi and Tehran, particularly in commerce and economy, the leadership of both countries is determined to increase the trade volume to its ever historical level.”

He later praised Indian women entrepreneurs, saying that when it comes to trade, women are more successful and that women in business in Iran are similarly active, especially since the Islamic revolution’s victory, and have the same vision as those in India.

The Islamic Republic of Iran’s Foreign Minister also discussed his meetings with his Indian counterpart EAM Jaishankar, followed by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and finally with Prime Minister Modi, during which the leaders discussed ways of all-out developments and reached certain agreements between the two countries.

Even with Jaishankar, the Iranian Foreign Minister held extensive conversations aimed at improving commerce, connectivity, and counter-terrorism cooperation.

India and Iran reaffirmed their commitment to working together to develop the Chabahar Port as a transit hub for the region, particularly Central Asia, and said delegates from the two countries will meet shortly to discuss operational issues at the crucial port.

Furthermore, in a jab at former US President Donald Trump, he declared that the so-called pressure campaign had been a complete ‘failure,’ and that the Islamic Republic of Iran had progressed far beyond the sanctions.

“I am glad to proclaim in this very circle loudly and plainly that former US President Trump’s so-called pressure campaign is now a complete failure, and the Islamic Republic of Iran is way beyond those deals,” he said in a statement.

Even if they had a stake themselves, the US’s unilateral oppressive sanctions against Iran could not last, he stressed.

Amir-Abdollahian had previously met with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to discuss bilateral ties in sectors including trade, connectivity, and health.
