Stock Market Holiday Today: Stock markets worldwide are under strain due to the Iran war with the US and Israel.  Like the worldwide markets, the Indian stock market has also lost millions of dollars over the last month. On Monday, March 30, the market continued its losses.

However, the equity market will remain shut on Friday on April 3, 2026. BSE and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) are closed for trading today due to Good Friday, according to the market holiday calendar shared by the exchanges in December 2025.

Stock Market Holiday Today on Good Friday

The stock market will remain closed on April 3 for Good Friday, following closure on earlier this week on March 31 for Mahavir Jayanti.

On this day, not just India but many global markets, including the US, along with several Asian and European markets, will be shut.

The commodity market MCX will also stay closed for the entire day on Good Friday, meaning there will be no trading in both morning and evening sessions.

Additionally, the market will be closed again on April 14 for Ambedkar Jayanti.

Market Holidays Schedule For 2026

The Mahavir Jayanti break marks the fifth trading holiday among the 16 scheduled market closures for 2026.

Trading will remain suspended again later this week on April 3 (Friday) for Good Friday. Another holiday will follow on April 14 (Tuesday) to mark Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti.

Looking ahead, May will have two trading holidays:

May 1 for Maharashtra Day

May 28 for Bakri Id

Markets will also remain closed on June 26 for Muharram, after which exchanges will operate for nearly two months without any scheduled trading holidays.

As per the official exchange calendar, several holidays are scheduled in the latter half of the year:

September 14 – Ganesh Chaturthi

October 2 – Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti

October 20 – Dussehra

November 10 – Diwali-Balipratipada

November 24 – Guru Nanak Jayanti

December 25 – Christmas

The exchanges have stated that any revisions to these dates will be communicated through separate notifications in advance.

Stock Market Yesterday

The stock market continued its upward trend for the second day on Thursday, with both BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 posting gains. The rise was mainly driven by strong performance in IT stocks.

However, investors remained cautious after fresh comments by Donald Trump hinted at a possible escalation in tensions between the US and Iran.

The Senx rose by 185.23 points (0.25%) to close at 73,319.55 recovering sharply from its day’s low of 71,545.81. Meanwhile, the Nifty gained 33.70 points (0.15%) to end the session at 22,713.10.
