India Post GDS Second Merit List 2026
The India Post had previously released the first merit list of Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) recruitment 2026. The state-wise merit list is available on the official website.
Candidates are shortlisted for the next round of recruitment. Now that the first round is over, the candidates are eagerly waiting for the release of the India Post GDS second merit list 2026. However, the department has not officially stated the date of the next list.
The department hasn’t officially announced the date of the next merit list. But generally, the second round is announced after three to four weeks of the first merit list.
The first list was released on March 6. The second list is expected to be released in early April 2026. Do note that this is just an approximate estimate. The official date will be announced by the department.
The document verification (DV) process is already over for the candidates shortlisted in the first merit list. Candidates were supposed to complete the DV process by March 23, 2026.
Once the DV is over, the department will assess how many candidates actually completed the process and how many seats are vacant. Then, vacant seats are filled in the next merit lists.
Additional lists are released when some of the shortlisted candidates either do not appear for document verification or are not eligible. To utilize all the posts, India Post releases more lists. Previously, in some recruitments, the process continued till six or seven merit lists before all the posts were filled.
This year, 28636 Gramin Dak Sevak posts are to be filled in different postal circles across the country. The lists are released in PDF format for each state for easy checking of selection status for the candidates.
The selection is done only based on merit, and there is no written exam or interview. Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their Class 10 marks.
Due to the minimum eligibility criteria and the huge number of posts, this recruitment has received a huge number of applications. During the selection process, only one registration of the candidate will be taken into account.
All the candidates appearing in the second merit list will be required to appear for document verification at their respective Divisional Offices.
They will need to bring their original documents with photocopies. The documents include: Class 10 marksheet, Identity proof, Caste certificate (if applicable), and Residence certificate.
Once they successfully verify the documents, they may have to undergo a medical examination before receiving the final appointment letter.
Candidates who did not find their names in the first merit list should not lose hope. As there could be more merit lists issued, they may have a chance of getting selected.
They are advised to frequently check the official website to be notified about any further updates. Now that the process is still in progress, all eyes are on the second merit list, due to be released soon.
