A 2017 video showing Arjun Kapoor’s intense glare went viral, getting a stronghold across Instagram Reels and feeds. The cultural phenomenon, paired with the Haryanvi jam ‘Dus Don,’ has been a meme or laughing material for public, but the fact that the actor decided to turn off comments on Instagram highlights the bleak side of meme fame. This has become an issue of cyberbullying with comments like, “This meme is more famous than him” and “Ye banda isiliye famous hai kyuki ye famous ni hai”

The Meme That Captured the Internet’s Mood

The whole drama began at the 2017 press event for Half Girlfriend, where Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor responded to a reporter’s casual “Kya baat hai?” with the former giving a steely glare accompanied by a sharp “Tune bola, kya baat hai?”

This long-forgotten clip saw a resurrection in 2025, setting it to Dus Don’s dramatic beats and quickly transforming it into a viral meme template. The versatility of the meme, from Bollywood fans to cricket enthusiasts remixing it with MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli moments spread like a virus, garnering millions of views and videos on Instagram and X.

The Toll of Viral Fame on Arjun Kapoor

As the world was having a laugh on the internet, Arjun had to deal with the torrents of trolling scattered over the internet, starting from innocent jokes to brutal critiques of his acts. Under immense pressure, he disabled comments on his posts from London during his vacation, marking the need for boundaries.

This decision led to deliberations, some hailed him for looking after his own interests, with remarks like, “Good on him for calling out aggressive paps,” while others branded him inconsiderate, arguing that, “Celebs need to stay composed.” With steady waves of pushes, every day the meme shifted from silly fun to personal torture.

The Double-Edged Sword of Meme Culture

Arjun’s experience further raises the paradox of meme culture, entertaining and exhausting at the same time. While Dus Don surged onto the Spotify charts (1.5 crore listeners) and YouTube (94 million views), Arjun’s “angry” face had become a meme material.

His call to mute his comment section has highlighted the issue of the celebrity trying to find that balance between broader social engagement and personal peace in the times of Internet and social media.
