On his election tour through Assam, Union Home Minister Amit Shah was challenged by an unanticipated incident that left him stranded when he needed to fly to Dhubri in order to attend a scheduled visit and continue to conduct outreach through other means.

Chopper Problem Delays Amit Shah Visit In Dhubri

The complication arose while the helicopter used by Amit Shah was unable to continue its flight to Golakganj as planned due to a technical failure requiring him to postpone to a later date (the same day) when it was safe for him to continue on flying at that time. This was due both to liability factors associated with the potential for causing further damage to aircraft on take-off and that flying further on such an aircraft after taking off was considered unsafe for those onboard.

Due to this sudden problem, he was unable to be at the location of the scheduled programme in Golakganj, where he had been planning numerous campaign-related political rallies and public events in anticipation of the upcoming elections. As a result of this disruption, his trip had become very difficult to manage due to the number of stops to be made while in Assam.

Campaign Carries On By Phone Despite Delay; Amit Shah Calls To Provide Support To BJP Candidate

Although he was unable to arrive at the location of the scheduled rally, Amit Shah remained engaged with his party workers and other candidates in the area by continuing to provide support through phone calls, such as by providing support to BJP candidate Ashwini Roy Sarkar.

Amit Shah provided reassurance and motivation towards Party Members, Supporters and Enthusiasts. His verbal communication provided clarity to all who were involved in the campaign efforts going forward. While his lack of physical presence may negatively affect the ground-level efforts, the telephone message provided all the workers a sense of continuing momentum for the time of elections due to arrive shortly.

Amit Shah was significant in supporting the BJP campaign in Assam, which his stop to Dhubri, and assist the campaign throughout the Northeast, where he continues to build the party’s presence through his continued rallies and energizing campaign workers.

Safety First: Technical Checks And Precautions Taken

In light of the excitement and preparation for his planned trip to Golakganj, and in response to the cancellation of planned events associated with that stop, Party Officials explained that such situations happen when you travel with helicopters to multiple destinations where you move in quick succession.

The helicopter was grounded for precautionary purposes, and the Aviation Safety Protocol for the Boeing helicopter requires that all technical issues, or minor issues, to be addressed prior to continuing with any flight operation. After the decision was made to ground the helicopter after finding a technical glitch in the helicopter functions, and officials then implemented the necessary steps to check off all safety items prior to any continued use of the helicopter.

Amit Shah Delivers Message via Phone

Shah sent his support to party members in the area by communicating via telecommunication to some party members in attendance at the location, who then communicated his message.

The political leaders who provided statements confirmed that he made these calls and called support to maintain the connection and maintain the energy of the campaigns in any event when he could not be physically present.
