Raghav Chadha: Raghav Chadha on Friday reacted for the first time after being removed as deputy leader of the Aam Aadmi Party in the Rajya Sabha. In a video message, he questioned the decision and asked if raising public issues in Parliament had become a “crime.”

“Whenever I get the chance, I speak about people’s issues. But is that wrong?” he said, adding that the party had asked the Rajya Sabha Secretariat to stop him from speaking.

Lists Issues He Raised in Parliament

Chadha said his interventions in the House focused on everyday concerns. He pointed to topics such as high airport food prices, problems faced by gig workers, prepaid mobile plans, and the tax burden on the middle class.

He also raised concerns over flight delays, alleged paper leaks, and pushed for legal paternity leave in recent weeks. “Why would anyone want to silence me?” he asked, while thanking supporters for standing by him. He ended his message with a clear line: “Don’t mistake my silence for defeat.”

Ashok Mittal Steps In, Rift Buzz Grows

The party replaced Chadha with Ashok Mittal as deputy leader in the Upper House on Thursday. Soon after, Chadha shared a video compilation of his speeches, without adding further comments. The move has triggered talk of an internal rift within the party led by Arvind Kejriwal. Opposition leaders drew comparisons with past tensions, including the fallout involving Swati Maliwal.

Chadha’s absence during key moments, including protests after Kejriwal’s arrest in 2024, has also come under scrutiny, adding to speculation around his equation with the party leadership.
