According to a statement released by the Chief Minister’s Office, participating in a news conclave, the Chief Minister said that Rahul Gandhi does not harbour a personal ambition to become Prime Minister. However, he convinced the leader to accept the demand of a PM candidate for the party during a meeting held recently in Vikarabad.

The injured were immediately rushed to the Sadar Hospital in Sasaram for treatment following the incident. Speaking to ANI, Dr Manish Kumar said that the injured were undergoing treatment at the hospital.

This will be the first session of the state legislative assembly following the conclusion of assembly elections on May 4. ‘In exercise of the powers conferred by Clause (1) of the Article 174 of the Constitution of India, as amended up-to-date, I, Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Governor of Assam, hereby summon the First Session of the Sixteenth Assam Legislative Assembly to meet at 9.30 A.M. on Thursday, the 21st May, 2026, at the Assembly Chamber in Dispur,’ the order stated.

Speaking at a presser in Hyderabad on Friday, Owaisi argued that the verdict mirrors the legal trajectory of the Babri Masjid-Ram Mandir dispute. “This judgment does not align with constitutional values. The verdict delivered regarding the Babri Masjid-Ram Mandir dispute accorded primacy to a single religion while effectively undermining the worship rights of others. Furthermore, this judgment has opened a floodgate. Tomorrow, anyone could come forward to challenge the sanctity of various places of worship,” he said, as per ANI report.

Breaking News Today LIVE & Latest Updates (16 May 2026): A fire accident occurred at Nampally Railway Station, Hyderabad, on Platform No 04 involving Train No 12720 Hyderabad-Jaipur Express, in which the air-conditioned coach bogie No B1 caught fire while the train was halted at the platform. The Fire Control Room received an emergency call at around 6:40 pm, following which fire tenders from Niloufer outpost and Water Bowser from Gowliguda were immediately turned out to the scene. Fire Services personnel promptly engaged in firefighting operations and brought the fire under control within a short time, according to an official statement.
