As the investigation on the horrific Delhi blast near Red fort continues, it is to be known that the Delhi Police have accessed CCTV footage that shows the white Hyundai i20 involved in the Red Fort Metro Station blast was parked near the metro station for almost three hours before the explosion.

In the aftermath of the devastating explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station on Monday evening, which claimed at least 10 lives and left 24 injured, authorities have imposed a heightened security alert across the national capital. Precautionary measures have been activated at key locations, including the Indira Gandhi International.

Delhi Police Special Cell arrested a suspect on Monday night, just two hours after a deadly car explosion shook the Red Fort area in Delhi, according to a report by The Week quoting official sources.

Investigators are exploring a terror-related angle, as the individual is believed to have alleged connections to Jammu and Kashmir. A J&K police team has also joined the investigation on-site.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that within ten minutes of the explosion, teams from the Delhi Crime Branch and Special Branch reached the site. He added that the National Security Guard (NSG) and National Investigation Agency (NIA), along with the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), have launched a detailed investigation. All nearby CCTV footage is being scrutinized, and both the Delhi Police Commissioner and the Special Branch in-charge are present at the location. Shah emphasized that every possible angle is being examined, ensuring a comprehensive probe with findings to be shared with the public.

Union Home Minister reached Lok Nayak Hospital in Delhi to check on the condition of those injured in the recent explosion. He is also scheduled to visit the blast site later.

A senior doctor told India Today that hospital staff are being called in continuously to handle the emergency and provide urgent treatment to the wounded.

At approximately 6:52 pm, a slow-moving car halted at a red light near Delhi’s Red Fort before suddenly exploding, causing damage to several nearby vehicles, Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha confirmed. Multiple agencies, including the Delhi Police Crime Branch, are carrying out a coordinated investigation at the blast site.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah held discussions with Delhi Police Commissioner following the car explosion near the Red Fort in the capital, ANI reported. He is also maintaining regular communication with the Director of the Intelligence Bureau to stay updated on the situation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reviewed the developments following the explosion near Red Fort in Delhi, which occurred close to Gate No. 1 of the Lal Qila Metro Station. The Prime Minister also spoke with Union Home Minister Amit Shah to assess the security response and ongoing investigation.

Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia voiced concern over the explosion near the Red Fort, describing the incident as “deeply worrying.” In a post on X, he conveyed prayers for the recovery of those injured and the safety of people across Delhi and the country. Sisodia emphasized that unity, calm, and collective resolve are essential in confronting fear and attempts to spread terror.

Officials from the Delhi Police Special Cell have reached the scene to examine the extent of the damage from the explosion. Earlier, around 7 pm, a call reporting the blast led to the deployment of seven fire tenders to control the situation and secure the area.

According to reports units from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the National Security Guard (NSG) are being dispatched to the location of the explosion.

Mumbai has been placed on heightened alert, with police stations instructed to conduct nakabandi and step up random checks of suspicious individuals. The ground intelligence network is being activated, and patrolling has been intensified in sensitive locations across the city.
