DUSU Election Result 2025 Highlights: ABVP’s Aryan Maan Wins Presidential Race

The 2025 DUSU elections mark a significant shift, with women candidates emerging prominently in the race for the president’s post a scenario not seen in nearly two decades. ABVP’s Nupur Sharma was the last woman president in 2008–09.

This year, NSUI has fielded Joslyn Nandita Choudhary, a postgraduate student of Buddhist Studies, campaigning on hostel shortages, campus safety, and menstrual leave. Meanwhile, the SFI-AISA alliance has nominated Anjali from Indraprastha College for Women, focusing on gender sensitisation, fee hikes, and reinstating grievance redressal mechanisms.

The prominence of female candidates reflects growing gender awareness and engagement in campus politics.

The Delhi High Court has prohibited candidates and student organisations from holding any victory processions in the national capital following the DUSU 2025 election results. A bench comprising Chief Justice D K Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela clarified that the decision does not interfere with the elections themselves.

However, the court warned that if the polls are not conducted in a “satisfactory order,” it could take action to suspend the functioning of the Delhi University Students’ Union office-bearers.

After 16 rounds of counting in the DUSU 2025 elections, ABVP continues to dominate the President, Secretary, and Joint Secretary posts, with Aryan Maan at 21,854 votes, Kunal Chaudhary at 18,506, and Deepika Jha at 16,501 votes.

NSUI retains a stronghold in the Vice President contest, as Rahul Jhansla leads with 22,770 votes against ABVP’s Govind Tanwar at 16,013. Smaller parties like AISA-SFI trail behind across all posts, highlighting the ongoing two-party contest between ABVP and NSUI.

After 15 rounds of counting in the DUSU 2025 elections, ABVP’s Aryan Maan has strengthened his hold on the presidential race, securing 20,284 votes and leading NSUI’s Joslyn Chaudhary by a staggering 10,810 votes. In the Vice President contest, NSUI’s Rahul Jhansla leads with 21,430 votes against ABVP’s Govind Tanwar at 15,055, a margin of 6,375 votes.

ABVP continues to dominate the Secretary and Joint Secretary posts, with Kunal Chaudhary at 17,358 votes and Deepika Jha at 15,438 votes, leading their rivals comfortably. The results indicate a decisive advantage for ABVP in the presidential and key student body positions.

After 14 rounds of counting in the DUSU 2025 elections, ABVP’s Aryan Maan is set to become the next DUSU President, leading with 18,538 votes against NSUI’s Joslyn Chaudhary, who has 8,680 votes. In the Vice President race, NSUI’s Rahul Jhansla maintains a strong lead with 19,446 votes over ABVP’s Govind Tanwar, who has secured 14,066 votes.

The results reflect a competitive election, with ABVP dominating the presidential contest while NSUI continues to hold the upper hand in the vice-presidential race.

Chief Election Officer Prof. Raj Kishor Sharma announced the commencement of counting for the DUSU 2025 elections, stating that the process began at 8 am with the opening of the strong room in the presence of candidates. Counting will proceed on Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) over 18–20 rounds, depending on the machines, after which the results will be declared.

Prof. Sharma also highlighted that this year’s voter turnout showed improvement, rising by 4 percent compared to last year, reflecting increased student participation in the electoral process.

After 11 rounds of counting in the DUSU 2025 elections, ABVP’s Aryan Maan leads the presidential race with 14,642 votes, holding a 7,736-vote advantage over NSUI’s Joslyn Chaudhary, who has 6,906 votes. Umanshi Lamba trails with 3,302 votes. In the Vice President contest, NSUI’s Rahul Jhansla leads with 15,409 votes against ABVP’s Govind Tanwar at 11,277, a margin of 4,132 votes.

ABVP maintains leads in Secretary and Joint Secretary posts, with Kunal Chaudhary at 12,537 votes and Deepika Jha at 11,144 votes, holding comfortable leads over their NSUI rivals. The race continues to draw intense attention as counting progresses.

The DUSU elections hold significance beyond campus politics, often serving as a stepping stone for national leadership. Prominent politicians, including Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the late Arun Jaitley, Ajay Maken, and Alka Lamba, began their careers as DUSU office-bearers.

For students, the stakes are immediate and practical, focusing on issues like affordable hostels, safer campuses, improved transport, and inclusive policies. This dual importance makes the DUSU elections both a training ground for future political leaders and a crucial platform for addressing students’ everyday concerns.

After eight rounds of counting in the DUSU Election 2025, ABVP’s Aryan Maan has taken a commanding lead in the presidential race with 10,362 votes, leaving NSUI’s Joslyn Nandita Choudhary trailing at 5,294. ABVP is also ahead in the Secretary and Joint Secretary posts, with Kunal Choudhary and Deepika Jha leading.

 However, NSUI’s Rahul Jhansla maintains a strong lead in the Vice President contest with 11,606 votes, ahead of ABVP’s Govind Tanwar at 7,643. The contest remains heated as counting continues.

The Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) election has always been more than just a campus poll it is often seen as a testing ground for future national leaders. Many prominent politicians, including cabinet ministers and parliamentarians, began their journeys here, making the stakes far higher than student representation alone.

While victory boosts a party’s influence among the youth, the image and credibility that candidates build during this contest can shape their political careers for years to come. In this sense, the DUSU election continues to act as a barometer of national politics, reflecting not just campus dynamics but also the larger political mood of the country.

From the fifth to the seventh rounds of counting in the DUSU Election 2025, the contest between ABVP and NSUI has remained intense. In the fifth round, ABVP maintained leads in President, Secretary, and Joint Secretary, while NSUI’s Rahul Jhansla led comfortably in the Vice President race.

The sixth round saw a similar trend, with ABVP’s Aryan Maan, Kunal Choudhary, and Deepika Jha ahead in their respective contests, while NSUI’s Jhansla continued to dominate the Vice President post.

By the seventh round, ABVP’s margins in the President and Secretary positions narrowed but they still held an edge, whereas NSUI’s Rahul Jhansla further consolidated his commanding lead in the Vice President race, keeping the overall fight neck and neck.

In the first round of counting for the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) Election 2025, the ABVP has taken an early lead in three key posts, while NSUI is ahead in one. ABVP’s Aryan Maan secured 1,696 votes for President, followed by NSUI’s Joslin Nandita Choudhary with 714.

For Vice President, NSUI’s Rahul Jhansla leads with 1,606 votes, ahead of ABVP’s Govind Tanwar who has 1,202. In the Secretary race, ABVP’s Kunal Choudhary is ahead with 1,410 votes against NSUI’s Kabir with 845. Similarly, ABVP’s Deepika Jha leads for Joint Secretary with 1,315 votes, while NSUI’s Lavkush Bhardana trails at 877.
