The Miami Sprint belonged to one man, Lando Norris. In a weekend already heavy with emotion following the passing of the great Alex Zanardi, the defending champion drove flawlessly and dominated from lights to flags. McLaren secured a 1-2 finish as Oscar Piastri finished nearly three seconds behind the leader at the front. The drama part of the race belonged to Kimi Antonelli, who started from P2 and moved to P4, overtaken by the McLarens and Ferrari’s ace Charles Leclerc. However, later, the stewards were ruthless, handing the Mercedes rookie a five-second penalty for repeated track limit violations. This pushed him further down to P6.
There was a battle for P6 between the two arch rivals Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton, which eventually was sealed by the Red Bull hero. However, Antonelli’s penalty helped Max finish 5th. Check the Miami Grand Prix 2026 race results and highlights below.

The stewards hand the young Mercedes talent a five-second penalty for exceeding track limits several times. This demotes him to P6 despite finishing fourth. This also saw his championship lead over Russell narrowed to just seven points.
And Lando Norris wins his first race of the 2026 season. Oscar Piastri finished second, handing McLaren a 1-2 finish in the Miami GP sprint race.
Now, with only two laps to go, it is Norris and Piastri, the 1-2 finishers.
Leclerc is closing the gap, now only 0.9 behind Piastri. Speaking of the red bulls, Verstappen remain well ahead of Hamilton on P6 and Isack Hadjar who started ninth is in tenth place.
Lewis Hamilton is currently on 7th behind Max Verstappen. At the front? the McLarens leading still. Leclerc is 1.2s behind Piastri.

If the cars look a bit more unleashed tonight, it’s not just the Miami heat. The FIA has introduced a massive mid-season technical shake-up starting this weekend to fix the “lift-and-coast” issues from the first three rounds. The FIA has boosted recovery power to 350kW, allowing drivers to stay flat-out for longer. However, “Boost Mode” is now capped at 150kW for safety, and if Miami’s tropical rain hits, that extra power is banned entirely.
