Amid the ruckus in the Lok Sabha, the speaker adjourned the house till 11 am, July 23, 2025.
The Monsoon Session of Parliament began on July 21, marking the first assembly of lawmakers since India carried out Operation Sindoor – airstrikes targeting terror facilities in Pakistan. Ahead of the session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the media and urged all political parties to extend their cooperation.
This session will run from July 21 to August 21, with 21 sittings planned over 32 days. Both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will be adjourned between August 12 and August 17 to allow for Independence Day celebrations. Proceedings will resume on August 18.

Meanwhile, the Opposition is preparing to raise key issues, particularly Operation Sindoor, launched after the April 22 terror attack that killed 26 people, most of them tourists.
Opposition parties have also demanded a formal statement from Prime Minister Modi on the strike, and have asked the government to respond to US President Donald Trump’s recent remarks claiming he had helped reduce tensions between India and Pakistan in the past.

On SIR exercise in Bihar, Congress leader Pramod Tiwari says, “This is not an issue of SIR, this is about India’s democracy. We saw in Maharashtra what happened… The one crore voters that were added, voted for BJP. This is like murder of democracy, we want to talk, but the government is not ready, whenever we try, the session gets adjourned.”
