Earlier, Quetta finished with 174 runs on the board in the first innings. Shamyl Hussain and Hasan Nawaz struck fifties while Riley Meredith and Maheesh Theekshana were among the wickets. Tom Curran struck some lusty blows to provide finishing touches to the innings.

Quetta Gladiators were defeated by Karachi Kings in their opening game of the season. Led by Saud Shakeel, the Gladiators lost by 14 runs on the 27th March. However, their batting order is not the strongest. Apart from a fifty from Shamyl Hussain, the batters failed in their first game of the season.
Hyderabad Kingsmen, like their opponents, started their campaign with a loss. They are currently placed at the bottom of the points table as a result of their 69-run loss against the Lahore Qalandars.

Abrar Ahmed came into the attack to bowl the final over of the power play. The spinner struck with his first ball of the over and dismissed Usman Khan. It was the carrom ball which brought the downfall of the batter.
The asking rate for the Kingsmen keeps on climbing as Tom Curran bowls another cheap over. The right-arm pacer was welcomed with a four on his second ball but gave away only eight runs in the fifth over.
Abrar Ahmed has been removed from the attack after a wicket-taking first over. Ahmed Danyal replaced the spinner and bowled another great over for the Gladiators giving away only two runs.
Alzarri Joseph, after going for 17 runs in his first over gave away only four runs in the third over. The tall pacer challenged the off-stump and the outside edge of Usman Khan’s bat in the over.
Abrar Ahmed struck with his second ball as Maaz Sadaqat was dismissed for a second-ball duck. In spite of the first over going for 17 runs, the Hyderabad Kingsmen have been stunned with two quick wickets.
Saim Ayub after a couple of boundaries was dismissed in the first over itself. Alzarri Joseph after being on the receiving end bounced back with a short ball that was edged by Ayub and duly taken by Ben McDermott. Marnus Labuschagne got off the mark on his first ball with a four and struck another to end an eventful over.
Saim Ayub wasted no time in hitting the first boundary of the clash. The young batter from Pakistan shimmied down the track on the first ball of the second innings from Alzarri Joseph.
Akif Javed picks up a couple of wickets in the final over before Abrar Ahmed struck two fours on the trot to set a target of 175 for Hyderabad Kingsmen.
Tom Curran is making amends for running out Hasan Nawaz in some fashion. The bowling all-rounder from England struck a couple of sixes to end Riley Meredith’s spell. He was caught earlier in the over but it was a clear waist-high no-ball from the Australian pacer.
Tom Curran will be feeling the heat after being involved in the terrible mix-up leading to Nawaz’s dismissal. The English bowling all-rounder has struck a four and a six as the Gladiators aim to finish on a high.
Saim Ayub conceded a six on the final ball of the 17th over to end what was an extremely economical spell. The Pakistani spinner, gave away only 20 runs in his spell before being hit for that six.
Quetta Gladiators continued to capitulate as they lost their sixth wicket. The Gladiators gifted another wicket with a terrible mix-up between Tom Curran and Hasan Nawaz, resulting in the latter getting run out after making a half-century.
The Gladiators find themselves right on top in this clash as Maheesh Theekshana strikes twice in two balls. The Sri Lankan spinner, bowling his final over, dismissed Khawaja Nafay before getting rid of Ben McDermott for a golden duck.
It is once again Riley Meredith who has provided yet another breakthrough for his skipper. The Aussie pacer was brought into the attack by Labuschagne after previous two overs were expensive. 28 runs were scored in the previous two overs, but Meredith struck with his third ball of the third over to dismiss half-centurion, Shamyl Hussain.
Shamyl Hussain has reached his fifty in the 12th over. The left-handed batter struck a couple of sixes as Labuschagne strangely decided to take his spinners off the attack and introduce Hammad Azam.
Maheesh Theekshana has managed to bounce back strongly after an expensive first over. The Sri Lankan spinner gave away 11 runs in his opening over and has conceded only eight runs in his next two overs.
Usman Khan missed a stumping off Marnus Labuschagne’s bowling in the 10th over. However, it turned out that Labuschagne had committed the cardinal sin of overstepping as a spinner. The free hit resulted in a six from Shamyl Hussain to make matters worse.
Spinners have dominated the proceedings for Hyderabad Kingsmen. Despite only two wickets falling to Riley Meredith’s express pace, it is the spinners who have bowled the bulk of the overs at the halfway mark of the innings. Seven of the first 10 overs have been bowled by spinners including two from skipper, Labuschagne.
