Is there a twist in the tale? Shadab Khan and Chris Green seemed to have brought Islamabad United back in this clash. It is a brilliant power play for the Rawalpindiz. After losing Abdullah Fazal on the first ball of the second innings, the Pindiz have ended the first six overs being right on top of the Islamabad United. Mohammad Rizwan with 22 of 16 and Kamran Ghulam with 26 off 19 have made sure that required run rate is less than 6.5 runs per over.
Imad Wasim has provided the Islamabad United with the best start possible in the second innings. The left-arm spinner took a wicket off the first ball to dismiss Abdullah Fazal. Only three runs came off the over.
It all happened in the last over of the innings as Dian Forrester came on to bowl his first over in the innings. The right-arm pacer was clobbered for a six on the second ball before he bowled a no-ball on the very next delivery. On the free hit, Chris Green was run out. Mohammad Hasnain was dismissed for a golden duck, before Forrester picked up his second wicket of the over dismissing Richard Gleeson on the final ball of the innings.
Darryl Mitchell has been given a second over from Rizwan, and the decision backfired as Chris Green took the Kiwi medium pacer to the cleaners. Green struck him for a couple of fours and a six in an 18-run over.
Mohammad Amir picked up his second wicket of the match, and it turned into a heated moment between the pacer and Faheem Ashraf. It all started when Amir gave Ashraf a send-off after which the batter pointed his bat towards Amir and said a few words. Rawalpindiz players hd to come in between the two to make sure that the matter did not escalate further.
As is the case with breaks in play, they are often followed by wickets. Saad Masood, bowling his final over of the game, struck on the second ball of the 16th over. The leg-spinner dismissed Haider Ali as Islamabad United continued to stoop further.
Both of the set batters have been dismissed in quick succession. Asif Afridi returned to the attack and struck on the first ball of his third over to dismiss Mark Chapman. With Islamabad United losing their fifth wicket, Rawalpindiz would fancy their chances of bowling some tight overs.
The ploy to go to Darryl Mitchell seemed like it would backfire for Rizwan; however, the move has worked wonders. Mitchell was struck for a six on the second ball of the over by Devon Conway as he moved into the 40s. But, the Kiwi pacer got the better of his national teammate on the very next ball to get a crucial wicket for his team.
With spinners going for runs, Mohammad Rizwan turned to his pacer, Mohammad Amir. Amir bowled a solid over giving only seven runs after the previous two overs had gone for 20 runs.
Mark Chapman took the charge against Cole McConchie hitting him for a six in the 10th over. Back-to-back two overs have produced 10 runs each for the Islamabad United after a strong start from the Rawalpindiz.
Both Devon Conway and Mark Chapman are now striking the ball pretty well, and the two Kiwi batters went after Saad Masood in the ninth over. The two batters struck a four each iwth 10 runs coming off the over. The run-rate is now starting to increase above six runs per over.
Cole McConchie’s return to the attack yielded eight runs in the eighth over. The Kiwi spinner was struck for a boundary by his national teammate, Devon Conway on the fourth ball of the over.
Saad Masood only took one ball to create an impact in this clash. The leg-spinner dismissed Shadab Khan on the first ball after the power play. Shadab, playing his 100th PSL match, was dismissed after scoring only a single run. Meanwhile, Mark Chapman and Devon Conway both got reprieved on the fifth ball of the over. Conway hit a shot that was in the air but landed safe before a dive saved Chapman from being run out by a direct hit.
Rawalpindiz has picked up back-to-back wickets here, and it is Naseem Shah who is now among the wickets as he dismissed Mohammad Faiq on the fifth ball of the sixth over.
