The Chennai Super Kings are bossing the chase at the halfway stage of the second innings. With Sarfaraz Khan and Matthew Short at the crease, the Men in Yellow have scored 111 at the end of 10 overs. With only 84 runs needed to win in the second half of the innings, the five-time champions would fancy their chances of making three wins in a row.
The Orange Army has ended the power play on a strong note. After Nitish Kumar Reddy picked up a wicket in the fifth over, Eshan Malinga struck with his first ball of the night to dismiss Ruturaj Gaikwad.
It is Nitish Kumar Reddy who is making the ball talk. While Ayush Mhatre and Ruturaj Gaikwad were going all guns blazing, the Indian all-rounder picked up his second wicket to dismiss Mhatre. The young batter received medical attention at the later stages of his innings after seemingly pulling his hamstring. It was an excellent display of death bowling from the Chennai Super Kings as they restricted Sunrisers Hyderabad to 194 runs. Anshul Kamboj, bowling the final over, picked up two wickets to end with a three-fer. Meanwhile, Liam Livingstone, coming as an impact player, could only score one run off five balls as SRH failed to get beyond 200.
Gurjapneet Singh struck in his final over for the night. The left-arm pacer dismissed Salil Arora as the SRH innings slumped in the fag end of the innings.
Anshul Kamoj has possibly saved at least 10 runs for the Chennai Super Kings. Gurjapneet Singh was introduced in the attack in the ninth over. The left-arm pacer was struck for a six by Heinrich Klaasen on the second ball of his spell. However, he made a strong comeback in the rest of the over, giving only seven runs.
