NIA has been instructed by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to take over the investigation into the gruesome murder of a man in Udaipur

National Probe Agency (NIA) has been instructed by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to take over the investigation into the gruesome murder of a man in Udaipur, Rajasthan, who was reportedly decapitated by two men on Tuesday in broad daylight.

A day after the tragedy that shook people all around the country, the Home Ministry Office (HMO) made the news on Twitter. NIA has been ordered by MHA to take over the investigation into the gruesome murder of Shri Kanhaiya Lal Teli that occurred in Udaipur, Rajasthan, yesterday, according to a tweet by HMO.

HMO also stated in the tweet that “any organization’s involvement and overseas ties would be properly probed.”

The action was taken after a team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), comprising a DIG-rank officer, was dispatched to Udaipur on Tuesday.

NIA team would file a case under the terms of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, according to official sources.

The event happened in the Maldas neighbourhood of Udaipur. According to authorities, the two suspects released a video on social media shortly after the crime gloating about the beheading and also threatening the life of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After the event, the two suspects were detained shortly after.

According to authorities, one of the attackers, Riyaz Akhtar, used a sharp-edged weapon to strike Kanhaiya Lal while the other, Ghos Mohammad, videotaped the incident on his cell phone.

The victim recently published a social media message in support of Nupur Sharma, a former BJP politician who made contentious comments against the Prophet Mohammad.

Local markets in the vicinity were closed after the murder because the shopkeepers wanted justice for the victim.

In Udaipur, internet access has been blocked for the next 24 hours, and a curfew has been implemented.

“Suspects have both been taken into custody, and law and order is being maintained. Some individuals tried to exit the byways but were restrained. a curfew was enforced on the neighbourhood,” Udaipur SP Manoj Kumar stated.

All SPs and IGs have also been given a statewide notice to improve force mobility and keep officers on ground.
