The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted the possibility of light rains and thundershowers in Mumbai, Thane and Raigad over the next several days as well as many alerts have been issued by the IMD in many other areas of Maharashtra.

As per the authorities this weather will contain light to moderate rain and thunderstorms with areas that may receive lightning strikes at isolated locations throughout the duration of this weather system. The IMD has also provided a warning for potential high winds reaching speeds of between 40-50 km/h during all of these mumbai weather events.

Mumbai Weather Alert: What IMD Said About Rain, Thunderstorms And Winds

The IMD has clearly indicated that the mumbai weather event will not only consist of light rain but has issued a moisture prediction of “thunderstorm with lightning strikes, moderate rain and strong winds (40-50km/h) at isolated locations” to further illustrate the severity of what might happen in some areas affected by this mumbai weather system.

This alert is part of an alert program developed by the IMD with the mumbai weather ‘orange’ indicating that governments and the general public should prepare for interruption of services and property due to potential rain related flooding and severe weather.

Impact of Mumbai’s Weather: Thane, Raigad & Other Areas Are in Jeopardy

Mumbai’s weather does not affect Mumbai alone, as eastern suburbs of Mumbai like Thane and Raigad will also experience similar conditions (including rain, thunder) with some parts of Maharashtra put under high alert for more severe conditions than what is currently occurring.

Although Mumbai will likely only get light to moderate rainfall, there are locations hot close to Mumbai that may receive more severe rainfall. This often occurs with mumbai weather systems because isolated areas receive much more rain from localized storms than from larger systems.

Mumbai weather patterns: Why Changes Are Occurring Sudden

According to experts, the changing atmospheric conditions include moisture accumulation and different wind directions, resulting in the current mumbai weather change, which typically brings rains and thunderstorms to mumbai as well as west/east. These types of mumbai weather events are commonplace during seasonal change periods.

Weather systems off the Arabian Sea and neighbouring regions produce a lot of instability in this area. Instable weather typically causes short bursts (several minutes) but severe rainfall and thunder in this area of the city as well as surrounding locations.

Weather Advisory for Mumbai: What to Look For Moving Forward

With the current Mumbai weather alert now in place, experts are urging residents to remain vigilant about potential threats from thunderstorms. Such storms have the potential to create minor inconveniences caused by sudden downpours, lightning strikes, severe weather, and high winds, all of which may slow travel, produce flash flooding, or prevent the ability to travel in certain locations due to water accumulating on roads in low-lying areas.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that they expect “these types of weather events will likely continue across Mumbai for the next few days.” This means that about 1-2 days may include periods of time when overcast skies and intermittent rain, as well as brief periods of time when weather systems can occur with the potential for thunderstorms.

Mumbai Weather Outlook: Relief From Heat But With Caution

While the rainfall may offer some relief from the summer heat, the overall outlook for Mumbai’s weather will remain mixed. The first part of the summer will be milder due to cloud cover and precipitation; however, there will still be the risk of severe thunderstorms associated with strong winds.

In summary, this weather advisory for Mumbai continues to be one of the contrasts of the cooler temperatures and unstable weather conditions. As we get closer to the onset of the monsoon season in Mumbai, we could see an increase in these weather patterns, so it is essential to remain informed and prepared.
