India has finalized its 15-member squad that will take part in the 2025 Asia Cup, and it will be played in the T20 format. India will open their World Cup 2019 campaign against UAE on September 10 and several young players can make a mark.

Abhishek Sharma Eyes First Asia Cup Appearance

Left-handed opening batsman Abhishek Sharma has played 17 T20Is for India and has been slowly gaining a reputation in the last couple of years. Although he has established himself in international cricket, this is his first Asia Cup, which can allow him to get the opportunity to show his aggressive batting on a larger platform.

Another strength that Abhishek has had in the domestic and IPL cricket has been consistency which has been a key to his selection. His powerplay attacking prowess could prove to be crucial to India, as the team is keen on stamping its authority in the competition early.

Jitesh Sharma and Sanju Samson in Focus

Jitesh Sharma, the wicketkeeper-batter, has only nine T20Is to his name but he is being viewed as a major contender to the gloves. As Shubman Gill comes into the picture and puts Sanju Samson in jeopardy, Jitesh could be India-s first choice keeper in case he continues his IPL 2025 form with the bat.

Amongst those, however, who have long been waiting the opportunity, is Amsson. He has been called up a number of times but has never managed to make his mark. The Asia Cup in 2025 will be his first multi-nation event and a successful run in the tournament may cement his position in the Indian batting line-up.

Varun Chakaravarthy and Harshit Rana Step Up

Mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy has shown a great performance under the guidance of Gautam Gambhir. Although he has an experience in the World Cup, he has never participated in the Asia Cup, where his variations may prove to be a challenge to batters who have not seen him bowl before.

The new inclusions are headed by young pacer Harshit Rana Known to be aggressive and accurate, Harshit is likely to play a vital role in the Indian attack in the company of Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh. It is important that he makes every spell count in his first Asia Cup to have a long-term future at the international level.

Rinku Singh and Shivam Dube Target Big Impact

A force-hitter Rinku Singh has been raised an eyebrow as to why he was selected but he brings firepower to the team. It will mark his debut at the Asia Cup and he will want to shut up critics by delivering match winning performances, especially under pressure, which has been his speciality in the domestic and IPL cricket.

Shivam Dube, although having a modest IPL 2025, has been entrusted with his spin-hitting prowess in the middle-order. Playing in his first Asia Cup, the all-rounder has the opportunity of swinging games both with the bat and the ball making him one of the game-changers of the Indian team.
