It was a sea of yellow at Chepauk as Ian Bishop, with Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shreyas Iyer. The Punjab Kings skipper won the toss and decided to bowl first. However, it was a one-word reply from Iyer that not only stunned the commentator but also gave immense joy to the fans. When asked about the injury he suffered during, Iyer just responded with “fresh”.
Having suffered a blow to his hand in the previous game against the Gujarat Titans after a straight shot from Cooper Connolly, the PBKS captain was left injured. He was in immense pain and required immediate attention from the PBKS medical team. The injury proved to be the reason behind his wicket a few balls later.
At the toss, when asked about his injury by Ian Bishop, Shreyas Iyer talked about how he does not want to say anything negative about his body. Iyer said, “It (hand) is fresh. I just want to be positive in the way I talk. And I feel that if I say something negative about myself, it rubs off my body. So, I just want to stay, keep it cool and composed.”
He had talked about his hand after the win against the Gujarat Titans in the post-match presentation. After winning the clash, Iyer talked about how he did not want to jinx anything. He said, “All I can say is it is nice. It is the same as it was before. I don’t want to jinx anything. I just want to stay positive, and hopefully everything comes out right.”
Shreyas Iyer called it right at the toss and decided that the Punjab Kings would bowl first at the Chidambaram Stadium. There were no changes made in the PBKS team, while CSK made a crucial change in their playing XI. The hosts brought in Prashant Veer in place of Matthew Short, naming only two overseas players in their playing XI.
