Arjun Tendulkar, an Indian cricketer and the son of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, opened up about dealing with the pressure of expectations and being constantly compared with his father. At 26 years old, Arjun is on the verge of playing for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) against Delhi Capitals (DC) in their IPL 2026 match on Wednesday.
Before this season, Arjun was sold by the Mumbai Indians (MI) to LSG for 30 lakh.Concentrate on Having Fun Playing the Game, Not on ComparisonsWhen Arjun was recently on a YouTube chat with Shubhankar Mishra, he was questioned whether he experiences the pressure of being connected to a cricket legend.
This is what he said:
“There are comparisons. I want to know as a human being—but only if you’re comfortable—because I always try to put myself in your shoes. When a big name is associated with you, it is obviously a blessing, but there are also challenges. So, how do you deal with it mentally? When you perform well, there will be comparisons, even though you haven’t chosen them.”
Arjun emphasised his focus on passion and process:
“I play cricket for my passion, and not to prove anything to anyone. I just focus on the process of working hard and enjoying my game.”
Arjun entered the IPL in 2021, signing with the Mumbai Indians, where he played until 2025. Opportunities were limited, prompting his move to Lucknow Super Giants ahead of the 2026 season.While he is yet to debut for LSG, Arjun hopes to play more regularly than he did at MI.
Ahead of the new IPL season, Arjun Tendulkar appeared on Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast and was asked to name a cricketing idol besides his father, Sachin Tendulkar. Without hesitation, he chose Yuvraj Singh, praising him instantly: “Obviously his batting, what else?” When asked about admiring Yuvraj’s bowling, Arjun clarified, “He was a spinner, I am a pacer.”
When asked about his experience at MI and if he wished for more chances, Arjun said:
“Who doesn’t feel that? No one wants to sit on the bench. But we want to work hard and perform when we get a chance.”
The southpaw remains determined to make the most of his opportunities with LSG in IPL 2026.
