The Lucknow Super Giants will be starting the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 campaign against Delhi Capitals at home. Lucknow have had decent run in the past but the trophy drought has continued. While LSG begin the quest against the Capitals, Sachin Tendulkar’s son, Arjun Tendulkar will also be looking to relaunch his IPL career.

The left-arm bowler joined the Lucknow franchise after he was traded ahead of this IPL season. Arjun was first picked up by Mumbai Indians in the 2021 mini-auction for INR 20 lakh but did not get a game that season. He was then picked by the franchise for INR 30 lakh, though he had to wait until 2023 to make his debut, eventually featuring in four matches. He was retained once more in 2025 but did not get an opportunity that year.

Arjun Tendulkar’s IPL Career

Having played for just Mumbai Indians, Arjun has featured in five matches and has picked up three wickets. He hasn’t got much chances with the bat and only batted once where he scored 13 runs. Overall, Arjun who plays for Goa in domestic circuit has featured in 29 T20 matches. He has scored 189 runs and has 35 wickets to his name.

Will Arjun Tendulkar Get a Place in Playing XI?

The Lucknow Super Giants have some of the prominent names in the ranks. Earlier, R Ashwin had pointed that the left-handed player won’t get a chance in the playing and was subsequently, criticised by Yograj Singh.

“Arjun Tendulkar khelega hi nahi (Arjun Tendulkar won’t play at all), and let’s not even go there. I think it is very difficult because there are Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, Avesh Khan, and Mohammad Shami in this lineup. There are so many fast bowlers. How will he play? I don’t think he makes any case unless there are a lot of injuries,” Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.

“He is talking b*******. This guy Ashwin, whoever he is, should know what to talk about. Somebody sitting on television saying, ‘Oh, he can’t do this, he can’t do that. Arey, tum kya ho bhai?” Yograj said on InsideSport.

Now, it would be interesting to see how LSG and Rishabh Pant accommodate Arjun in the Playing XI.

Probable XI

Here’s how LSG’s Probable Playing XI might look: Aiden Markram (O), Mitchell Marsh (O), Ayush Badoni, Rishabh Pant, Nicholas Pooran (O), Shahbaz Ahmed, Abdul Samad, Arjun Tendulkar, Mohammed Shami, Avesh Khan, Anrich Nortje (O)
