IPL 2026 Points Table: The points table of the Indian Premier League witnessed a massive shift after the Delhi Capitals handed a six-wicket defeat to Lucknow Super Giants. Both DC and LSG were the last teams to play a game in this season. After recording their opening win, the Capitals moved to the third position on the points table.

Rajasthan Royals, courtesy of a special knock from teenage prodigy, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, are firmly placed at the top of the points table. They are followed by defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru at second place. Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings make the rest of the top five.

Gujarat Titans and Kolkata Knight Riders are placed sixth and seventh on the points table, respectively. While LSG moved to number eight after losing to the Axar Patel-led side, Sunrisers Hyderabad are on the ninth place. Five-time champions, Chennai Super Kings having finished on the bottom of the points table for the first time in the previous season, find themselves 10th once again.

LSG vs DC: Sameer Rizvi and bowlers’ guide to two points

The bowlers from Delhi Capitals were right on the money in their opening game of the season. Mukesh Kumar, with a slightly lucky run out, opened the floodgates for the Capitals. The right-arm pacer got a deflection while trying to field off his own bowling, and the ball ricocheted to the stumps at bowler’s end, catching Rishabh Pant out of his crease.

DC skipper, Axar Patel, claimed the second wicket, dismissing Aiden Markram. However, it was Natarajan paying only his third game in two years, who picked up three wickets. Kuldeep Yadav picked up a couple of wickets before Lungi Ngidi, carrying his form from the T20 World Cup, picked up three wickets.

Sameer Rizvi, after being named the player of the match in the last game of the previous season, started his IPL 2026 season in a similar fashion. The batter from Uttar Pradesh scored 70 runs unbeaten, sealing a tricky chase for the Capitals. He shared an unbeaten 119-run stand for the fifth wicket with Tristan Stubbs. It was a record partnership for Delhi Capitals, who had their highest fifth-wicket partnership in the history of the IPL.
