KKR vs SRH, IPL 2026: Rinku Singh etched his name into the record books during the IPL 2026 clash between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens on Thursday, April 2. The left-handed batter, who is also serving as KKR’s vice-captain this season, achieved a major fielding milestone by becoming the franchise’s leading catch-taker in the history of the Indian Premier League.

Rinku reached the landmark in style, showcasing sharp awareness and safe hands in the field. His first moment of impact came when he held on to a catch to dismiss Ishan Kishan off the bowling of Blessing Muzarabani. He then followed it up with another crucial grab near the boundary line, this time removing Aniket Verma off Anukul Roy. The second catch proved historic, taking his tally to 41 catches in just 61 matches for the Kolkata-based franchise.

With this feat, Rinku surpassed Andre Russell, who previously held the record with 40 catches for KKR. Russell, one of the longest-serving players for the franchise, featured in 133 matches between 2013 and 2025. Despite playing more than double the number of games, he now sits second on the list, highlighting Rinku’s remarkable efficiency as a fielder.

Another KKR stalwart, Sunil Narine, occupies the third spot with 36 catches from 191 appearances. While Narine’s contribution with the ball has often taken center stage, his consistency in the field has also been vital for the team over the years.

Rinku’s achievement is even more impressive considering the pace at which he has climbed the charts. With just 61 matches under his belt for KKR, he has already outperformed players who have had significantly longer tenures. His agility, anticipation, and composure under pressure have made him one of the most dependable fielders in the league today.

On the overall IPL leaderboard, Virat Kohli continues to hold the record for the most catches, with 118 grabs in 268 matches for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He is followed by Ravindra Jadeja and Suresh Raina, both of whom have taken 109 catches each in their IPL careers.

Kohli also leads the chart for most catches taken for a single team, while Kieron Pollard sits second with 103 catches for Mumbai Indians. Notably, only five players in IPL history have managed to cross the 100-catch mark as outfielders, underlining the rarity of such consistency.

Rinku Singh’s latest milestone not only cements his growing legacy at KKR but also reinforces his reputation as one of the finest fielders in the IPL.
