Pakistan and Multan Sultans pacer Muhammad Ismail was taken to the cleaners in the opening over of the rain-shortened contest of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 against the Lahore Qalandars at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on April 3, Friday. In what was a 26-run over, the 20-year-old leaked 14 off only the first delivery as the defending champions set up the tone for themselves.
How did Muhammad Ismail give away 14 runs off the first ball?
With the Multan Sultans opting to bowl first, captain Ashton Turner threw the ball to Ismail, who bowled two four-wides to start apart from the boundary off Mohammad Naeem’s bat. Naeem struck two more boundaries off the next three deliveries but finished it off with two singles. The 26-run over also proved to be the most expensive first over in the tournament history.
