Pakistan’s former players, who often appear on national television to express their views on cricket, often lose track of the conversation to speak something completely oblivious to the subject. There have been multiple instances during the ongoing PSL as well, where former cricketers went overboard with their opinions to create headlines. One such incident happened recently, where Basit Ali, a former Pakistani cricketer, crossed the line of decency by taking a cheap shot on Aussie teammates – Adam Zampa and Marcus Stoinis.

What exactly happened?

Cricketers Basit Ali and Kamran Akmal were talking on a Pakistan-based TV show as they were discussing the prospect of Australian spinner Adam Zampa featuring in Test Cricket. To which Basit Ali insinuated that Zampa’s teammate, Marcus Stoinis, must have asked him not to play tests.

Here’s how the conversation went:

Akmal: “I’m surprised Adam Zampa never played Tests for Australia.”

Basit Ali: “Marcus Stoinis asked him not to play.”

Anchor: “That’s their personal matter.”

Adam Zampa On PSL vs IPL

Although Zampa isn’t participating in the IPL, the Australian leg-spinner is presently competing in the Pakistan Super League 2026, playing for Karachi Kings under David Warner’s captaincy. In the PSL auction, Karachi Kings contracted him for PKR 4.5 crore, roughly translating to Rs 1.51 crore.

“I pulled out of the IPL this year. To be brutally honest, for someone with my skill set, I just don’t get the money that is there for other skill sets. And for the amount of time that the IPL takes, it just didn’t seem like a reasonable choice for me to keep playing it,” Zampa said on the ARY Podcast.

“I was going to have a break, but PSL was on the radar about a month ago. It all happened pretty quickly, but I’m enjoying it,” Zampa added.
