England batter Harry Brook has joined Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), as per reports. United suffered a major setback at the start of the tournament when Zimbabwean fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani decided to opt out of the 2026 edition of the league.
The right-arm pacer has now been replaced by Brook in the side.
England batter Harry Brook is not featuring in the Indian Premier League as he is facing a ban for two seasons. Brook had withdrawn from a contract worth ₹6.25 crore (approximately $1.25 billion) with the Delhi Capitals to focus on his international cricket.
Now, according to the regulations of the Indian board, if a player opts out of the tournament without injury or a valid reason after being selected in the auction is banned for two years.
Harry Brook has previously featured in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for the Lahore Qalandars, where he left a lasting impression. His standout performance came in 2022, when he smashed an unbeaten 102 off just 49 balls against Islamabad United.
That knock marked his maiden T20 century in Pakistan and made him the youngest centurion in PSL history. His contributions played a key role in Lahore Qalandars securing their first-ever league title in the 2022 season.
Brook opted out of the 2025 PSL auction, citing international workload management, fitness priorities, and commitments to the England national team ahead of a packed 2026 calendar. He has also emphasised the importance of mental health and leadership responsibilities, choosing recovery and national duty over participation in demanding franchise leagues.
Meanwhile, Islamabad United are looking to strengthen their aggressive, data-driven lineup. Brook could potentially be paired with Shadab Khan and Jordan Cox, forming one of the most formidable middle orders in the PSL.
Brook’s 360-degree stroke play, high strike rate, and growing leadership maturity could give Islamabad United a strong competitive edge heading into the 2026 season.
In T20 Internationals, Brook has played 63 matches, batting in 55 innings and remaining not out 12 times. He has scored 1,303 runs at an average of 30.30 and an impressive strike rate of 153.83. His record includes one century and six fifties, along with 107 fours and 59 sixes, underlining his impact in England’s limited-overs setup.
