The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 is once again making the headlines but for a hilarious reason this time. The playing conditions and the weather forecast had become the latest talking point in the league. Following the victory, Karachi Kings batter Azam Khan appeared for the post-match interaction with the host broadcaster. However, the segment was abruptly interrupted by rain.
Karachin Kings chased down a target of 198 in 20 overs. Captain David Warner and Azam Khan played a massive role in the side’s win as the two batters notched up individual fifties. But it was Azam Khan who played an important knock and hammered 74 off 34. The right-handed batter hit six maximums and as many fours during his innings.
David Warner chipped in with 50 off 36 as the Kings gunned down the target with four balls to spare.
Daryl Mitchell was the pick of the bowlers for Rawalpindi who scalped three wickets for 32 runs in 3.2 overs but the Karachi batting unit showed thorough dominance and eventually won the match.
Earlier, Mitchell also put up a brilliant show with the bat as he notched up a brilliant half-century and top-scored with 65 off 41. Sam Billings also got a fifty as he struck 58 off 35. Rawalpindiz posted 197/6 in 20 overs. Hasan Ali returned with figures of 3/24 in four overs.
“It’s a great place to be. I think tonight was a fantastic result for us, but the way that the boys played, I thought, was fantastic. Up with the 200, it was probably going to be, I think, par total on that wicket, but the way that our bowlers sort of bowled through the middle, I thought was fantastic. They had a good partnership and a solid foundation, and it’s always hard to bring that back. But what a fantastic innings there by Azam,” Warner said after the match.
Azam Khan also talked about the tweaks he has made to his batting after the match-winning performance. “I really practiced a lot on my shots and personally, I had a gut feeling that they might send me at number four because I personally think that my ideal position is number four after the power play. But obviously, it ended up on a win, so I’m really happy about it.”
