LSG vs DC

Delhi Capitals started the new IPL season with a six-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Wednesday. Asked to bat first, LSG were bowled out for 141 thanks to the seamer Lungi Ngidi and T Natarajan’s three wickets apiece. Riding on Sameer Rizvi’s unbeaten 70 runs, DC chased down the target comfortably and started their campaign with an easy two points.

Rizvi played an unbeaten knock of 70 runs off just 47 balls, which helped his side chase down a challenging target of 142 runs with six wickets and 17 balls to spare.

“The coaches backed me by saying I will bat at number 4 this season. And you have to play your game according to the situation. Like you played according to the conditions. If you play at a particular venue then you know how to play, our state team plays here. So we have played a lot of matches. So that thing was helping. No sir, as I went, I thought that I will play a little positive approach. But as soon as in the next over, two wickets fell, the situation changed completely. So I tried to talk to Stubbs. He said, let’s take a little time. There are a lot of overs left and the run rate is also down. We should respect the conditions, so we talked and decided that we would play our game. Not only after reaching fifty, but I tried to put the loose delivery away and that was my plan throughout the innings,” Rizvi said after the match.

Delhi Capitals have now secured five consecutive wins against Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL, making them the third team against whom DC has achieved such a streak. Previously, they had also won five consecutive matches against Sunrisers Hyderabad between 2020 and 2023, and against Rajasthan Royals from 2018 to 2020.
