Boxer Vijender Singh sparked considerable speculation prior to the Lok Sabha election with a succinct tweet, formerly under the handle X.

In his tweet, he stated, “I am ready wherever the public desires.”

Over the past few days, his name had been circulating as a potential candidate for Mathura on behalf of the party, a constituency currently represented by actress and incumbent MP Hema Malini.

Singh hails from the influential Jat community, which holds political sway in numerous constituencies across Haryana, his home state, as well as in western Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
