Goa: 53rd IFFI Kicks Off Today, CM Sawant Inspects Venue

The 53rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) will get underway in Goa on Sunday.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant inspected the Film Festival location on Sunday morning.

It’s the ideal location for IFFI, according to CM Pramod Sawant.

CM Sawant said that the opening ceremony of the International Film Festival of India, which will take place at Syam Prasad Mukherjee stadium in Goa’s Bambolim today, will be attended by Bollywood stars Ajay Devgn, Sunil Shetty, and Prabhu Deva in addition to Union Minister Anurag Thakur.

As part of the Central government’s effort for this year’s IIFI awards, up to 75 young people between the ages of 18 and 35 will be given the opportunity to attend the festival as special guests.

The purpose of the celebration is to honour movies, the stories they tell, and the people who make them.

According to a press release, the Manipur State Film Development Society will curate five feature and five non-feature films for Indian Panorama at IFFI 53, Asia’s oldest film festival, to celebrate the golden jubilee of Manipuri cinema.

Since Deb Kumar Bose’s “Matamgi Manipur,” the first Manipuri feature film, was released on April 9, 1972, it has been observed as the day when Manipuri cinema was born.

The opening feature film, Ishanaou, from Padmashree-winning director Aribam Shyam Sharma, and the non-feature film, Ratan Thiyam; The Man of Theater, will be shown, along with other films. This will give moviegoers a chance to experience the state of Manipur’s rich cultural heritage, ferocious storytelling, dance, music, traditions, and theatres.

According to a formal announcement, Manipuri film pioneers such as Aribam Shyam Sharma, Oken Amakcham, Nirmala Chanu, Borun Thokchom, and Romi Meitei would be in attendance to commemorate the 50 years of artistic genius in Manipuri cinema at the 53rd Edition of IFFI, Goa.

Officials have announced that fantastic movies will be shown for free at Joggers Park in Altinho, Ravindra Bhavan in Margao, and Miramar Beach.

The International Film Festival of India (IFFI) has announced the choice of 25 and 20 non-feature films for its Indian Panorama. The 53rd IFFI in Goa, India, will screen the chosen movies from November 20–November 28, 2022.
