The small aircraft crashed into a residential building located in Capão da Canoa, which is a coastal community of Rio Grande do Sul on Friday. The flight from São Paulo transported four people, who included two pilots and two passengers, when it started to descend before crashing at high speed.

Local authorities have confirmed that at least three people lost their lives in the inferno, which included one pilot and both passengers. The sudden impact created a fire mushroom cloud, which city security cameras recorded, and terrified residents shared across various platforms.

The building struck by the aircraft had no people inside it at the time, which saved many lives, but rescue teams still search through the burnt debris to find the fourth person who was on board.

Emergency Response and Search Operations

The local fire department and emergency crews established a secure perimeter to battle the intense flames that were fueled by aviation kerosene right after the explosion.

The search and recovery efforts currently work to find the missing crew member and recover the flight data, which will show why the single-engine plane lost altitude so suddenly.

The site remains a hazardous zone of debris and structural instability, which state officials from Rio Grande do Sul are managing with the help of aviation experts.

Aviation Safety and Preliminary Investigation

The authorities assigned CENIPA to investigate the technical aspects that led to the disaster. The preliminary reports indicate that the aircraft conducted its final descent from an altitude that was lower than normal flying height.

The investigators will study weather patterns and mechanical failure possibilities and pilot communication records to reconstruct the events that occurred before the crash.

The incident has brought back local residents’ worries about aircraft routes that fly above crowded coastal areas and the safety measures used by small private planes that travel between important airports and southern tourist destinations.
