US President Donald Trump on Wednesday issued a warning to Iran, saying the United States could target every Iranian electric generating plant if negotiations fail to produce a deal in the coming weeks. Trump delivered a national address in which he provided an update on the ongoing US military campaign in Iran.
Trump’s ‘Stone Age’ Warning
In his address, Trump suggested that US military operations against Iran could intensify significantly over the next few weeks, although he offered limited clarity about the exact objectives of the campaign.
“Thanks to the progress we’ve made, I can say tonight that we are on track to complete all of America’s military objections shortly. Very shortly,” Trump said.
He then issued a stark warning about the scale of potential attacks.
“We’re going to hit them extremely hard over the next two to three weeks. We’re going to bring them back to the Stone Ages, where they belong,” he said.
Regime Change ‘Not the Goal,’ Donald Trump Says
Trump said that the United States did not set out to engineer regime change in Iran. However, he acknowledged that the country’s leadership situation has already been altered following Khamenei’s death.
“In the meantime, discussions are ongoing,” Trump said. “We never said regime change, but regime change has occurred because of all of their original leader’s death.”
Iran’s Power Infrastructure Could Be Targeted, Trump Warns
The US president then issued a direct ultimatum, warning that Iran’s electricity infrastructure could become the next target if talks fail.
“Yet, if during this period of time, no deal is made… if there is no deal, we are going to hit each, and every one of their electric generating plants very hard, and probably simultaneously,” Trump said.
Oil Facilities Spared For Now, Says Trump
Trump also claimed that the United States has deliberately avoided striking Iran’s oil facilities, even though he described them as the easiest targets.
“We have not hit their oil, even though that’s the easiest target of all, because it would not give them even a small chance of survival or rebuilding,” he said.
“But we could hit it, and it would be gone, and there’s not a thing they could do about it. They have no anti aircraft equipment,” Trump added.
Reiterating confidence in the US military, Trump said American forces would continue to maintain overwhelming dominance.
“We are unstoppable as a military force,” he said.
When Will the Iran War End? Trump Gives Hint
Trump also indicated that the warcould reach its conclusion soon if US objectives are met.
“Thanks to the progress we’ve made, I can say tonight that we are on-track to complete all of America’s military objectives shortly. We are going to hit them extremely hard over the next two to three weeks… In the meantime, discussions are ongoing,” he said.
