Three more Shiv Sena legislators joined the dissident group of legislators led by Eknath Shinde in Guwahati on Thursday, escalating the political turmoil in Maharashtra.
They arrived at a Guwahati hotel where other MLAs are holding a campaign event. Shinde was joined in Guwahati last night by four additional MLAs.
A resolution signed by 34 lawmakers indicating that Eknath Shinde remains the leader was previously supported by the dissident MLAs. Governor of the state Bhagat Singh Koshyari received the resolution.
Shiv Sena’s internal affairs are its own, according to BJP, which stated on Wednesday that the party is unrelated to the Maharashtra turmoil.
