On social media, videos of Shahrukh Pathan, the accused in the northeast Delhi riots, receiving a hero’s welcome while on parole have gone viral.

While on parole, Shahrukh Pathan, who was accused of pointing a gun at a police officer during the northeast Delhi riots in 2020, was greeted as a hero. The incident’s videos have gone popular on social media.

Shahrukh Pathan is currently incarcerated after a Delhi court charged him with a slew of offences ranging from rioting to inciting religious hatred. On humanitarian grounds, he was granted a four-hour release from jail last week to visit his ailing father.

Pathan can be seen receiving a rousing welcome from his fans and neighbours when he returned home on parole in a video dated May 23. People can be heard cheering and whistling as they crowd around Pathan in the video.
