Agnipath Scheme: IAF receives 56,960 applications in three days of registration process

Air Force received 56000 applications for 3000 slots under Agnipath recruiting scheme.
In only three days since the registration process began on Friday, the Indian Air Force (IAF) on Sunday said that it has received a total of 56,960 applications under the “Agnipath” recruiting scheme.
After the Center unveiled the programme for recruiting into India’s three defence wings, violent demonstrations broke out all around the country.
Earlier on June 14, the government introduced Agnipath Scheme, outlining that young people between the ages of 17 and 21 would be hired for a four-year term, with 25% of them eventually being hired for regular employment.
Following the launch, the initiative was met with violent opposition in numerous regions of India.
The highest age restriction for hiring under the programme was then raised by the government to 23 from 21 for the year 2022. Additionally, it announced a number of appeasement measures, such as giving them precedence in central paramilitary forces and government-run defence businesses after retirement.
The ‘Agniveers,’ as those inducted under the programme would be known, will also be given precedence in their admission into state police forces, according to various Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruled states.
The military forces were explicit that anyone who had participated in violent protests and fires in opposition to the new recruiting plan would not be admitted, nevertheless.
