Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that the government must cancel the Agnipath recruiting programme and that the party stands with the youth
Accusing the BJP-led government of weakening the armed forces via “new deceit,” Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that the government must cancel the Agnipath recruiting programme and that the party stands with the youth in the movement to defend the country’s future.
Gandhi today tweeted that Chinese personnel are stationed on Indian territory and that the defence forces should be bolstered. He chastised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Agnipath plan, which permits young people to serve in the armed services for four years.
“China’s military are stationed on Indian territory, and true patriotism entails boosting the armed forces, but you are doing so through fresh deceit. We stand with the young in the fight to defend the country’s future. I’ll repeat it again: you’ll have to return Agnipath ” he added.
Earlier on Monday, the Congress organised a ‘Satyagraha’ at Jantar Mantar in the national capital to protest the Agnipath programme and the ED summons Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case.
Later, a Congress delegation met with President Ram Nath Kovind on June 20, and issued a memorandum urging the government to remove the Agnipath initiative, have broad discussions, and address concerns of quality, efficiency, and economy while without jeopardizing the welfare of the armed personnel.
