The airline has asked employees to contact HR representatives if they have any questions or concerns.
Air India announced on Monday that the deadline for eligible employees to apply for voluntary retirement has been extended until May 31, 2023. It also stated that the application’s acceptance and the date of release would remain at the discretion of management. The airline has asked employees to contact HR representatives if they have any questions or concerns.
Tata Sons, which won the bid to acquire Air India in October last year, stated that it would retain all employees for one year and that if it decided to retrench after that time, it would have to offer a voluntary retirement scheme.
“The winning bidder (Tata Sons) will retain all employees for the period of one year. In the second year, if they aren’t retained, they will be offered VRS by the winning bidders,” Rajiv Bansal, Secretary, Civil Aviation told reporters in New Delhi, then.
He also stated that the winning bidders will honour gratuity, pension fund, and post-retirement medical benefits. The government then stated that the interests of current and retired employees would be protected during the disinvestment process.
