Maha Rains: All schools, colleges in Palghar, Maharashtra, to remain closed due to red alert

As a result of the weather department issuing a red alert in Palghar, the administration has closed all schools and colleges in the district until tomorrow.
The administration has closed all schools and colleges in the district until tomorrow because the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert in Palghar due to extremely heavy rainfall. The IMD has predicted heavy rain in Palghar on Wednesday and Thursday, and district collector Dr. Manik Gursal has issued an order to that effect.
According to the order, all anganwadis, government and private schools, zilla parishad schools, civic schools and ashram schools, colleges and training institutes will be closed tomorrow, July 14.
Meanwhile, due to heavy rains and flooding, all schools, colleges, and private establishments/offices in the Gadchiroli district will be closed until July 16. All essential services will be maintained.
All schools in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad have been declared closed on Thursday.
“As heavy rain is predicted by the weather department, a holiday has been declared for all civic-run, private, aided and non-aided primary, secondary, and higher secondary schools in Pune municipal limits on Thursday (July 14),” according to a release from the municipal corporation’s education department.
For the past week, relentless rains have lashed Mumbai and its surrounding areas, causing flooding in many low-lying areas and traffic jams on roads. As heavy rains continued to pelt the city, local trains, considered the metropolis’ lifeline, were severely disrupted on several routes.
Many areas were inundated, causing traffic problems. Due to the state’s continuous rains, incidents such as tree uprooting and landslides have also been reported in some areas of Maharashtra. During heavy rains, a landslide occurred near the old Katraj tunnel on the Pune-Satara road.
For the past week, Maharashtra has experienced heavy rainfall, resulting in waterlogging in several areas. Due to the heavy rain, essential services have also been impacted in the state.
